The Generalitat has confirmed an investment of 7 million euros in 2026 for the second phase of recovery of the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste, damaged by the 2024 storm. This allocation adds to 1.7 million for operating expenses and 610,000 euros for driver training, thus ensuring the continuity of the circuit as an economic and leisure driver in the area.
Technical data of the post-storm restoration 🏗️
The intervention focuses on repairing the damaged asphalt, drainage systems, and electrical infrastructure affected by the storm. New protective barriers will be installed, and the video surveillance system will be improved. The 610,000 euros allocated for training aim to attract young drivers, while the 1.7 million for operations cover annual maintenance to prevent further deterioration.
The storm took the asphalt, but not the bureaucracy 🌧️
All this sounds very good, but if the money arrives in 2026, drivers will have to drive on mud or learn to drift in puddles. Meanwhile, the residents of Cheste already dream of seeing cars again, even if it's on bicycles. At least, the Generalitat has not announced that the circuit will become a temporary water park, which would be the only viable business in the short term.
