Iberia has announced the launch of a new direct air route connecting Spain with Bucharest, the capital of Romania. This connection offers travelers a more accessible and direct option to visit the country, benefiting those with family, business, or tourism interests in the region. Competition on the route is expected to bring more competitive prices, expanding travel and trade possibilities between both countries.
The technology behind the new air connection ✈️
To operate this route, Iberia will use narrow-body aircraft such as the Airbus A320neo, equipped with next-generation engines that reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The airline has optimized slots at Madrid-Barajas airport to minimize layovers and waiting times. Additionally, the booking system has been updated to include the new route in real time, allowing passengers to manage tickets from digital platforms without technical complications.
Goodbye to the layover in Frankfurt (and the sausage sandwich) 🥨
Until now, traveling to Bucharest required a mandatory layover in Frankfurt, Munich, or Vienna, where one could pass the time buying a Swiss watch or a stale pretzel. With the new direct route, passengers will save those two dead hours in the duty-free zone. Sure, they will miss the chance to debate whether Frankfurt airport is a labyrinth designed by a drunk mole. But hey, all for arriving earlier and with their liver intact.
