Production company Good Films has signed an agreement with Ciudad de la Luz to shoot 20 films in Alicante over a decade. Each production will have a budget between 18 and 24 million. The first, The People of the Book, is already in production. For citizens, this means youth employment in the audiovisual sector and local economic revitalization that boosts filmmaking and work in the region.
Applied technology: soundstages, VFX and continuous training 🎬
The agreement involves the use of Ciudad de la Luz's soundstages, which have infrastructure for large-scale shoots. The integration of local post-production and visual effects (VFX) technologies is planned, requiring updates to equipment and software. Additionally, technical training programs for young people will be created, covering roles such as lighting, sound and digital editing. The project's continuity over 10 years allows for smooth investment planning in equipment.
Twenty films: the perfect excuse not to leave Alicante 🎥
Now young people will have a solid reason to stay: working as trainees, assistants or lugging lights. Of course, if anyone expected to see Brad Pitt drinking horchata on the Explanada, don't get your hopes up. The stars will be supporting cast and the extras, neighbors from the area. But hey, as long as they pay the bills and don't ask to rent a drone at a gold-plated price, these 10 years of low-cost cinema made in Alicante are welcome.
