The Regional Government of Extremadura has announced an investment of 2.7 million euros to improve bathing areas that hold the Blue Flag designation. The funds will be used to renovate access points, showers, and services at river beaches and natural pools, with the aim of maintaining the quality and safety of these spaces during the summer season.
Works with technical criteria and universal accessibility 🌊
The actions include the installation of non-slip flooring on walkways, the modernization of drainage systems, and the replacement of obsolete pipes in the showers. Flow sensors will also be integrated to optimize water consumption, as well as charging points for mobile devices in rest areas. The projects prioritize accessibility, with ramps and tactile signage for people with reduced mobility.
A dip with a phone charger included 📱
Now, when you go to cool off at the natural pool, you can charge your phone while taking a swim. That said, don't expect the town council to also install free WiFi to watch series on your towel. With 2.7 million, at least we'll have showers that don't spit out cold water under pressure and access points where you won't leave half the sole of your flip-flops behind.
