From September 24 to 27, Ifema Madrid hosts the Estampa fair, a gathering of over 50 galleries bringing together established figures and new talents. Artist Esther Ferrer will be the special guest of this edition. For citizens, it's an opportunity to see contemporary art without leaving the city, a plan that combines culture and accessible leisure in a single venue.
The logistics of setting up 50 booths in one week 🛠️
Behind the fair is a technical process that begins weeks in advance. Each gallery receives a booth plan with exact measurements and LED lighting requirements, avoiding halogen spotlights that damage artworks. Assembly is coordinated with forklifts and specialized hanging teams, using safety anchors for large-format pieces. The pavilion's climate control is set to 21 degrees Celsius and 50% humidity, conditions that protect paper and canvas. Everything must be ready 24 hours before opening.
Art to see, not to touch (and even less to buy) 🎨
If you go to Estampa, remember the basic rule: look, but don't touch. Also, don't ask the price unless you have a bank account ready for the shock. Seasoned collectors already know that contemporary art hurts more in the wallet than in the retina. For everyone else, it's the perfect time to act knowledgeable in front of an abstract blotch and say: It has a lot of strength. Then, grab a drink at the café.
