Spanish driver Cristina Gutiérrez has finished her participation in the 2026 Dakar Rally in eleventh place, the best position for a woman in the last 25 years. As the days go by, Gutiérrez admits she values this result more, not for the number, but for the effort and teamwork that made it possible. For the public, her example shows that perseverance and collaboration are as important as the podium.
The evolution of the navigation assistant in the Dakar 🏁
To achieve this result, Gutiérrez's team optimized the navigation software in her Toyota Hilux. The system, based on artificial intelligence, processes altimetry and speed data in real time to anticipate dunes and rocky areas. Additionally, bidirectional telemetry allows adjusting tire pressure and suspension without stopping the vehicle. This technological integration, tested in previous competitions, was key to maintaining mechanical reliability during the two-week race.
Eleventh place: the new top 10 of those who never give up 🏆
Being eleventh might sound like little if you think about the glory of the podium. But in the Dakar, just reaching the finish line is a miracle. Cristina not only made it, but she left behind several favorites who now explain their retirements with phrases like the car didn't respond. Meanwhile, she celebrates her position with the calm of someone who knows that, sometimes, the merit lies in not getting lost in the desert, something many cannot claim.
