Capcom has confirmed the release of Resident Evil Veronica for 2027, a remake of the cult classic Code: Veronica. The title will arrive with updated graphics and the option to play in first or third person. However, the company is once again betting on nostalgia instead of taking risks with new intellectual properties. Players will pay 70 euros for an experience that, under the hood, repeats the same story and the same puzzles from 27 years ago.
RE Engine and dual camera: the same game, two perspectives 🎮
The remake will use the RE Engine, the same one that powered the remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4. The technical novelty lies in the ability to switch between first-person and third-person camera, a feature Capcom presents as innovation. In reality, this option seeks to attract both purists of the saga and new players, but it adds no new content nor modifies the structure of the puzzles. The game remains faithful to the original, meaning the puzzles of yesteryear return without significant changes.
70 euros to relive the same Antarctica puzzle 💸
Paying 70 euros to solve the music box puzzle again or face the same tyrant in the Antarctic base sounds like a bad joke. But Capcom knows that nostalgia sells, and it sells dearly. While fans await a Resident Evil that innovates, the company dusts off old titles with new makeup. At least now you can experience the same old scare from two different angles. Of course, the price does not include therapy.
