Those from Ingolstadt already have the electric replacement for the Audi TT in motion. Cameras have captured a camouflaged prototype that, curiously, is based on a Porsche 718 Boxster. This new model will be presented in the summer of 2027 and will feature a retractable roof, seeking a balance between daily comfort and sportiness. For the average citizen, this means more electric offerings in the sports segment, although the entry price will not be exactly affordable.
Shared platform and retractable hardtop 🚗
The technical base will be the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform developed together with Porsche, the same one used by future high-end electric vehicles. The prototype seen uses the Boxster body, but with significant modifications to the rear and wheel arches to adapt Audi's own design. The roof will be a retractable hardtop, a solution that prioritizes acoustic insulation and structural rigidity over traditional soft tops. Versions with one or two motors, all-wheel drive, and a range exceeding 500 kilometers are expected.
The TT retires, but with Porsche as an escort 😅
It seems Audi has decided that the best way to bury the TT is to borrow the body from its Stuttgart cousin. The new sports car will use the Boxster's base, which guarantees good dynamic behavior, but also ensures that spare parts are just as expensive as those for the Porsche. The funniest part is that while purists mourn the death of the combustion engine, Audi has taken the Boxster chassis to make an electric convertible that, from what it seems, will share the workshop with the Cayman. So, if you can't buy a Porsche, you can always buy an Audi that is almost the same, but with four rings.
