Adventure Time: Side Quests Returns to Basics on Disney Plus and Hulu

The new series Adventure Time: Side Quests premieres on June 29 on Disney+ and Hulu. The production brings us back to Finn and Jake in their younger years, returning to the classic formula of fighting monsters. The animation is more vibrant and two-dimensional, moving away from previous experiments to focus on the direct action that defined the franchise's early episodes.

The backgrounds, digitally hand-painted, recover the watercolor texture that fans remember. The result is fluid animation that prioritizes the readability of each hit and movement, without relying on unnecessary 3D effects.

The creators promise that Finn and Jake haven't lost their touch: the former still yells before jumping in, and the latter transforms into anything except a responsible figure. Of course, now the monsters have more epic names, like The World Devourer or The Bug That Ate My Sandwich. Nostalgia is served, but watch out, because Jake will probably still use your belongings as a catapult.
