The political class has turned the fight against corruption into a weapon to be thrown. Each scandal is used to harm the rival, but never to build solutions. While parties accuse each other, the citizenry watches as impunity remains in force. The real problem is not who stole more, but that both sides prioritize their electoral benefit over transparency, eroding trust in institutions.
Blockchain against political opacity 🔗
Technology offers tools to end this farce. A blockchain registration system would allow real-time auditing of every expense, donation, and asset declaration of public officials. The immutability of the blockchain would prevent subsequent modifications, ensuring traceability. Combined with smart contracts that trigger automatic sanctions in case of irregularities, partisan discretion could be eliminated. The technical solution exists; what is lacking is the political will to implement it.
The politician who promises transparency... until they win 😏
It is curious to see lawmakers promising accountability while hiding their representation expenses as if they were pirate treasure. They love to talk about audits, but only when the other side demands them. Perhaps they should install a 24/7 webcam in their offices. Although, seeing how they drop their ID cards when leaving the chamber, they would probably end up blaming the hacker of the day for leaking their own blunders.
