A resident of Pino Montano known as Dioni has requested the court to act as a real estate agency to manage property sales. This would mean that courts could directly intervene in housing transactions, affecting citizens with inheritance or foreclosure issues. The request aims to streamline legal processes, but the court has not yet decided whether to accept this new role.
Judicial technology as a management platform 🏛️
From a technical perspective, this request poses a challenge for judicial management systems. Integrating real estate agency functions would require developing specific modules in platforms such as LexNET or the electronic auction system. Property databases, automated appraisals, and digital notifications to heirs would need to be implemented. Interoperability with the Cadastre and the Property Registry would be key to avoiding duplication. However, the current infrastructure is not designed for these commercial tasks.
The court now also sells apartments 🏠
If the court accepts, Dioni might also ask them to handle his move and do his laundry. Court staff, already short on time, would have to hang a For Sale sign on the courthouse door. The next thing would be a court clerk giving guided tours and the judge negotiating the price of the storage room. At least, electronic auctions would gain in spectacle.
