Prime Video has confirmed that the third season of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is already in pre-production and that filming will begin in the spring of 2025 at the Shepperton studios in the United Kingdom. The series, which has captivated millions of viewers, will continue to expand the Middle-earth universe with new epic stories and a consolidated creative team.
A directing team with established talent
For this new season, Prime Video has announced the participation of three directors who will shape the story:
Directors of the third season
- Charlotte Brändström: Returns as executive producer and director, after having directed several episodes in the first two seasons. Her experience includes productions such as Shōgun (FX), The Witcher (Netflix), and The Man in the High Castle (Prime Video).
- Sanaa Hamri: Responsible for several episodes of The Wheel of Time (Prime Video), she also returns to direct in this season.
- Stefan Schwartz: Veteran director with work on The Boys (Prime Video), The Walking Dead (AMC), and Luther (BBC), joins the directing team.
Visual effects for a new stage in Middle-earth
The visual effects team continues to be led by Jason Smith, with the participation of renowned studios such as ILM (Industrial Light & Magic), DNEG, and Rodeo FX.

- ILM: Has developed most of the series' effects from its locations in London and Singapore, combining advanced technologies with the characteristic visual style of Middle-earth.
- DNEG: Specialized in digital environments, they have worked on creating spectacular landscapes and monumental structures.
- Rodeo FX: In charge of photorealistic creatures and details in the integration of CGI with live action.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is produced by J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, and Kate Hazell as executive producers.
