Supergirl: When Outer Space Fills with Drama and Special Effects
After months of filming, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has wrapped production and entered the phase where computer wizards make the impossible seem real. James Gunn, the mastermind behind the project, announced it with the same excitement as someone who just found a lost sock in the washing machine. Now, the team dives into post-production, that place where explosions don't smell like gunpowder and characters fly without getting dizzy.
"Yes, it's done," said Gunn, probably while sipping cold coffee and thinking about his next movie.
From Taming Dragons to Saving Galaxies
Milly Alcock, known for her role in House of the Dragon, was chosen to bring Kara Zor-El to life. Gunn confessed he had her name in mind even before auditions, proving that sometimes destiny is written on Post-its stuck to the fridge. Filming took the team around the world, from London to Iceland, as if they were tourists with an unlimited budget and a script under their arm.
Craig Gillespie, the director, is known for his skill in handling complex characters without resorting to explosions every five minutes. Though, to be fair, in a superhero movie, a couple of explosions never hurt.

A Heroine with More Traumas Than Superpowers
This version of Supergirl isn't the typical cheerful girl who rescues kittens from trees. The story is based on a comic miniseries where Kara spends her first years in a crumbling world, turning her into a heroine with more emotional scars than a fan of Korean dramas. Upon arriving on Earth, she doesn't come to smile, but to deal with her past while trying not to destroy everything in her path.
- Kara Zor-El: a heroine with a dark past and a future full of special effects.
- Ruthye: an alien girl seeking revenge, because toys are boring.
- Krypto: the flying dog who will probably steal more scenes than the villain.
A Cast That Seems Like a Comic Coming to Life
In addition to Alcock, the cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, a villain with a name that sounds like a fermented drink, and Jason Momoa as Lobo, a bounty hunter who surely smells like leather and danger. Also featured are Kara's parents, those characters who only appear in flashbacks to add a bit of drama before everything blows up.
With a release scheduled for 2026, there's still time to perfect every detail. In the meantime, fans can speculate, make theories, and wonder if Krypto will have his own line of merchandise. After all, what would a hero be without their pet? Well, maybe cleaner, but definitely less fun. 😉
