How to Convert Maya Animations to Video
Once the animation in Maya is finished, converting it to video is straightforward if you follow the proper steps 🎬. You can export each frame as an image or directly to a video file using Render Settings and then combine them in editing software.
Configuration in Render Settings
- Open Render Settings from the clapperboard icon or Windows / Rendering Editors / Render Settings.
- In Common, define File Output with the file name and destination folder.
- Select the desired frame range in Start Frame / End Frame.
- Choose Image Format as EXR, PNG, or JPEG if exporting images, or AVI / MOV for direct video 🎥.
- Adjust resolution and quality according to your needs.
- Press Render / Render Sequence to generate all the frames.
Combining Images into Video
If you exported images, open a program like Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, or After Effects to combine them, add audio, and export in the final format.
A Detail to Keep in Mind
Never render directly in the viewport expecting the same quality as a final render. Each frame is like a professional photograph 📸. Rendering can be slow, but better to be patient than to cry later over a blurry video or incorrect colors 😅.
