Thinkinetic has released version 6 of Pulldownit, its plugin specialized in destruction simulations for visual effects and video game development. This update brings significant improvements for Maya users, the 3D modeling tool.
Innovations in Pulldownit 6
Edge Fracture Tool
One of the most notable new features in Pulldownit 6 is the Edge Fracture Tool, an interactive tool that allows fracturing object geometry with great precision. This tool integrates iteratively, allowing users to see simulation results immediately, without needing to wait for long loads.
Additionally, the operation is non-destructive, making it easy to undo any action and recover the original fracture pattern.
Improvements in Material Simulations
In this new version, material simulations have also been improved, making object fractures more realistic, especially for rocky materials.
Improved Performance
Another significant improvement is the performance in dynamic simulations, as instantiated objects in simulations can now be calculated up to 30% faster, allowing thousands of shapes to be processed in just a few minutes.
Advanced Clustering Options
The fragment clustering option (Clusterize) has been optimized, improving the way objects break upon impact.
Availability and Pricing
Regarding availability, Pulldownit 6 is only available for Maya 2020+ on Windows and macOS operating systems. The software is available under a rental model, with node-locked licenses at 290 € annually or floating licenses at 360 € annually.
