Shannon Ralston, owner of several Bugatti Chiron Super Sports, faced a small inconvenience when spilling drinks in her car's door compartment. Despite being one of the most luxurious and exclusive models on the market, the Bugatti Chiron did not have cup holders, which led her to request one from the brand.
The Unexpected Solution is a 3D Printed Cup Holder
Instead of a conventional solution, Bugatti responded with an innovative proposal using 3D printing technology. The brand, known for offering customized options for its clients, designed a cup holder that fit perfectly in Ralston's model, the Chiron Super Sport Le Diamant Blanc.
The Customized Design
For this design, Bugatti designers used a 3D configurator, where they showed how the 3D printed cup holder fit perfectly into the available space in the car door. The most interesting part is that the design required no additional tools for installation, a concept known as toolless design.
Features of the 3D Printed Cup Holder
The 3D cup holder includes two slots for drinks:
- Large slot for water bottles.
- Small slot for drink cans like Red Bull.
Additionally, the cup holder is engraved with the owner's name, adding a touch of personalization.
“Just in time for the Christmas holidays, the design is ready,” comments Frank Heyl, design director of Bugatti.
