When Monsters Need More Space to Argue
The cinematic universe needs more destruction, or so Legendary Pictures seems to think when announcing Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. The sixth installment of the Monsterverse promises to take the fight between these titans to new levels, where the only sure loser will be the city reconstruction budget.
"If you thought two monsters fighting was chaotic, wait until you see what they do when you give them the budget of a small country"
The Human Cast: Experts at Dodging Debris
While Godzilla and Kong handle the epic part, a group of brave actors will try not to become accidental extras. Director Grant Sputore has assembled a team that includes veterans like Sam Neill to younger talents, all with one thing in common: running in slow motion in front of greenscreens.
- Dan Stevens returns, probably wondering why he accepted another role where his biggest line is "RUN!"
- Kaitlyn Dever proves she can scream with more conviction than in her indie dramas
- Matthew Modine, because every franchise needs a scientist with a worried expression

Technology in the Service of Chaos
The visual effects of this installment promise to be as colossal as its protagonists. Although the technical team remains a mystery, it is rumored that:
- They have reserved all the rendering servers in the southern hemisphere
- Coffee will be served by the ton in the post-production offices
- VFX artists will receive bonuses in the form of psychological therapy
Filming in Queensland, Australia, offers the perfect setting: beaches to destroy, cities to demolish, and jungles for... well, for Kong to feel at home before starting to break things.
The Formula That Never Fails
After the success of The New Empire, the producers know that the audience wants three things:
- Giant monsters
- Buildings collapsing in slow motion
- Humans making shocked faces while looking at the sky
Supernova promises to deliver this and more, possibly adding some cosmic element to justify the title. Because when you've exhausted earthly fights, why not take the destruction to space?
While we wait for the 2027 release, one thing is certain: cinematic property insurers will never have so much work. And we, the viewers, will have the opportunity to see how two 100-meter creatures resolve their differences like adults: by destroying everything in their path 🏙️💥.
