Eleceed Makes the Leap to Anime with DandeLion Studio Animation
Fans of supernatural action and superpowered cats are in for a treat: Eleceed, the successful WEBTOON webcomic created by Jeho Son and ZHENA, will get an anime adaptation. Production will be handled by DandeLion Animation Studio, known for their work on Magic Candies and the acclaimed film The First Slam Dunk.
From Global Webtoon to Animated Series
With over 1.4 billion global views and published in 10 languages, Eleceed is one of WEBTOON's most popular works internationally. Its story follows Jiwoo Seo, a kind-hearted teenager with hidden abilities, and Kayden, a powerful Awakened being who, after suffering severe injuries, hides in the body of a stray cat. The series blends fast-paced fights with an emotionally dense narrative, all drawn in a dynamic visual style perfect for animation.
A Top-Tier Team for a Powerful Story
Direction will be handled by Hiroshi Nishikiori (IDOLiSH7 Movie, Honey Lemon Soda), the script by Yousuke Kuroda (My Hero Academia), and character design by Minami Sakura (Gridman Universe). With this team, everything points to the adaptation respecting the essence of the original webtoon, while adding a new visual dimension and narrative pace.
Additionally, to celebrate the announcement, Kazuhiro Nishikawa, president of DandeLion, will be present at Anime Expo in Los Angeles on July 6 to offer exclusive details on the production process. Attendees will be able to see an unreleased video at the WEBTOON booth during the event.
