Disney has decided to pull an episode from the second season of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur titled The Gatekeeper, which centered its plot on Brooklyn, a recurring transgender character in the series. Controversy Over the Episode's Removal
In a post that was later deleted, Derrick Malik Johnson, one of the storyboard reviewers, expressed his sadness over the episode's cancellation, suggesting that the decision might have been influenced by the results of recent elections.
It breaks my heart to know that this important and amazing episode will now be considered a lost episode, Johnson wrote.
However, a Disney source refuted Johnson's claim, assuring Polygon that the decision to pull the episode was made over a year ago and has no political motivation. This response attempted to clear up doubts about whether the decision was linked to external factors, such as the political context.
The End of Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur
The 2D animated series, which had won three Kidscreen awards, was canceled last month after two seasons. Despite its cancellation, the second season will continue to air until 2025, albeit without the mentioned episode. This series was highly appreciated for its inclusive approach and representation of diverse characters.
