Resident Evil Looks in the Mirror Again (and Gets More Digital Wrinkles) 🧟
It seems Capcom can't resist its own success. After gloriously resurrecting the classics RE2, RE3, and RE4, it's now preparing new remakes of Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica. According to rumors, the first would arrive in 2027, followed by its older sibling in 2028. The good news? Zombies will look more realistic than ever. The bad news? They'll still want to eat your brain.
A Nostalgic Journey on a High-Speed Train
For those who didn't live through the GameCube era, RE0 was that rare bird where:
- Two protagonists played ping-pong with the controller
- The main setting was a train (yes, before Snowpiercer)
- It started as a project for Nintendo 64 and ended up being something else
Meanwhile, Code Veronica was the rebel that left PlayStation to try its luck on Dreamcast. And it did great, becoming the favorite sequel for many fans. Now both games could get their well-deserved technological glow-up.

The RE Engine Puts the Zombie Flesh on the Grill
If these projects are confirmed, the RE Engine will prove once again why it's the king of digital horror. This engine allows:
- Models that make the originals look like plasticine dolls
- Textures that show every last thread in the bloody curtains
- Facial animations scarier than the monsters themselves
Behind the scenes, there will surely be artists cursing in ZBrush while sculpting zombie warts, or designers pulling all-nighters in Substance Painter searching for the perfect shade of dried blood. 💀
The Doubt Keeping Fans Awake
Although the leaks seem solid, Capcom remains silent like a zombie hiding in a closet. It could be:
- Confirmed projects arriving on the scheduled dates
- Ideas in early stages subject to changes
- A strategy to see how fans react before committing
In the meantime, the community keeps speculating. Will they change the mechanics? Update the controls? Add new scenarios? And the most important question: will the famous RE0 train now have first-class bathrooms? 🚂
The only sure thing is that if these remakes match the level of the previous ones, Capcom could keep remaking games until the smart washing machine Resident Evil... and we'd still buy them. 😅
