Beeble SwitchLight: When AI Becomes Your Digital Gaffer
Forget rotoscoping for hours to change lighting. Beeble SwitchLight has just raised the bar for VFX with an AI model that transforms any video into a complete PBR scene, ready to be re-lit as if it were 3D. The magic? It now works on the entire scene, not just the main subject 💡.
"It's like having a lighting department in your browser... but without the endless coffees" — A VFX artist testing the tool.
What Can SwitchLight Do?
- Generate PBR maps (normals, roughness, metallic) from 2D videos
- Re-light entire scenes (backgrounds, objects, vehicles)
- Export to Blender, Unreal, Nuke, or After Effects with dedicated plugins
- Work without masks thanks to AI 10x more powerful than the previous version
Workflow: Magic in 4 Steps
- Upload your video (up to 2K/60s) to Beeble Studio
- The AI automatically generates PBR and depth maps
- Add point lights or HDRIs directly in the web interface
- Export to your favorite software for final adjustments
Current Limitations (But Not for Long)
For now:
- Only 8-bit for base maps (except depth/flow in 16-bit EXR)
- Maximum 2K resolution in the web version
- Remote processing (the local desktop version is coming soon)
Who is This Tool For?
Ideal for:
- VFX Artists who need to integrate live-action into 3D environments
- Motion Designers working with poorly lit footage
- Directors who want to preview lighting changes in post-production
While we wait for the desktop version (promised for SIGGRAPH), SwitchLight is shaping up to be that digital assistant we all wanted. Of course, we'll keep asking the AI to bring us coffee too... someday ☕.
PS: If your reel shows the "before and after" of using SwitchLight, job offers will probably rain down on you.
