Volvo has announced the launch of a global software update, version 5.0.5, for more than 2.5 million vehicles manufactured since 2020. Available OTA starting from mid-March, it completely renews the Google-based infotainment system. The goal is to fix stability and slowness issues, unifying the experience across models.
Comprehensive System Overhaul and Support for AAOS 13 🔄
The update rebuilds the interface from the ground up. It introduces a home screen that prioritizes the navigation map, with a cleaner design and fewer elements. It adds dynamic shortcuts that appear contextually, such as parking controls when maneuvering. Technically, it migrates the system to Android Automotive OS 13 and enhances the Volvo Cars app, allowing linking the Volvo ID to the vehicle from any device remotely.
Goodbye to the Frozen Screen While Searching for the Climate Control ❄️
This update promises that, finally, adjusting the temperature won't be an adventure requiring zen patience. The dynamic shortcuts will appear just when you need them, as if the car had had coffee. Maybe now the system will respond before you change your mind about the trip destination. A step toward vehicle technology behaving as expected.
