A new PC mod seeks to restore Hideo Kojima's original vision for Metal Gear Solid V. His idea was for Ground Zeroes to function as the prologue to The Phantom Pain, but it was released as a standalone title. This work, created by RLC, fuses both parts into a single continuous campaign, offering the cohesive experience that was planned from the beginning.
Technical Integration and Map Access 🔧
The mod, uploaded by CapLagRobin, adds the Ground Zeroes campaign to the iDroid mission list within The Phantom Pain. After completing the first mission, the transition to the prologue is automatic. Additionally, it integrates Camp Omega into the open-world system, allowing free exploration. Its creators note that there are some minor issues and that features like data logs will be added later.
Kojima Approves (This Message Will Self-Destruct) 💥
So, after years of debate, a modder has done what a big company considered unfeasible for release reasons. Now we can play the saga as its director imagined, even if unofficially. One wonders if this will reach consoles or if Konami will send a Foxhound squad to the author's house. For now, the rescue mission is, literally, in its rightful place.
