Antoine Bagattini has released version 3 of his Baga Ivy Simulation add-on for Blender. This update incorporates a long-awaited feature: the generation of realistic growth animations. The system can handle ivy and more than 70 species of climbing plants, allowing vegetation to develop on any surface defined by a mesh. It works with the Eevee and Cycles render engines.
Simulation Mode: Greater Control at the Cost of Complexity ⚙️
The new version introduces a Simulation mode that replaces the previous distribution method. This mode offers more precise control over the direction and behavior of growth, generating results more faithful to the real physics of plants. In exchange, the process requires more detailed configuration by the user. The update costs 79 dollars, although buyers of version 2 in the last 12 months receive it at no additional charge.
Your Digital Mushroom Will No Longer Have Excuses for Not Being Covered in Ivy 🍄
With this tool, any 3D object, no matter how bland, can suffer a controlled botanical invasion in seconds. Forget modeling each tendril by hand; now you can sit back and watch your architectural creation slowly devoured by digital vegetation. It's the perfect way to add a touch of abandonment and decay to your scenes, without needing to wait decades or get your hands dirty with soil.
