The third-person roguelite shooter Armatus will offer a time-limited demo during Steam Next Fest. From February 23 to March 2, players will be able to access a preliminary version of the title, which features combat against hordes in the ruins of Paris. The demo will allow testing a selection of weapons, upgrades, and skills before the full release, scheduled for 2026 on PC and consoles.
A Graphics Engine for Managing Hordes in Destructible Environments ⚙️
The development of Armatus focuses on the efficient management of large numbers of enemies in scenarios with destructible elements. The creators have worked on an artificial intelligence partitioning system that prioritizes threats close to the player, optimizing resource usage. The Paris environments are designed with a mix of predefined assets and procedural elements, seeking a balance between performance and visual variation in each game.
Paris, the City of Light... and Demons at Machine Gun Point 💥
It seems that the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe are going to have a new type of tourist: one armed to the teeth and eager to unload ammunition. Instead of selfies, visitors will take home souvenirs in the form of bullets and casings. It might be the definitive way to solve the city's traffic problems, although cleaning the blood from the cobblestones will be an extra cost for the city hall.
