The Animation Incubator initiative has been launched in Bulgaria with a clear objective: to offer practical training in animation to creators aged 13 to 19. Through workshops and mentorships, the program aims to equip participants with technical and artistic skills, facilitating their first experience in collaborative projects and their approach to the professional creative industry.
Tools and workflow in the workshops 🛠️
The program focuses on a practical approach, introducing participants to the use of standard software such as Blender, Krita, and Adobe tools. The workshops cover everything from the fundamentals of drawing and storyboarding to 3D modeling, rigging, and character animation techniques. Emphasis is placed on a structured workflow that includes pre-production, production, and post-production, simulating a real studio environment.
From rendering frames to rendering patience 😅
One of the unofficial lessons of the program is cultivating the virtue of patience. As they learn, the young people discover that animation consists of 5% inspiration and 95% waiting for the PC to finish calculating that render they requested an hour ago. It's a complete training: they exercise creativity, technique, and, along the way, the ability to have a very long tea while the progress bar advances at its own contemplative pace.
