Volkmann GmbH has introduced the vPort, a semi-automated system for handling metal powder in 3D printing. Developed together with HP Additive Manufacturing Solutions, this equipment is designed for the HP Metal Jet S100 series. It integrates cleaning, recovery, and refilling into a closed unit with a glove port interface, reducing operator exposure to fine powder.
Closed flow to prevent leaks and contamination 🛡️
The vPort works by docking with the HP build unit. A vacuum nozzle removes excess powder, then it is cleaned with pressurized air and refilled from an internal reservoir. The recovered powder passes through a sieve to be reused. The entire process takes place within a sealed system, preventing particle dispersion and maintaining a cleaner, more controlled work environment.
Goodbye to looking like a metallized coal miner 😅
If you've ever ended a day of 3D printing with metal powder even in your eyebrows, the vPort will take away some of the fun. Now you can clean parts and refill powder without looking like you work in a tungsten mine. All with gloves, like a surgeon, but without needing to operate on anyone.
