Work has returned to Marjaletes Avenue in Tavernes de la Valldigna to redevelop a key section of this road. The project includes widening the bike lane, adapting pedestrian spaces, installing new lighting, and adding street furniture and vegetation. The goal is to improve accessibility and safety, as well as provide continuity to the Greenway.
Bike lane and pedestrians, the technical bet of the new Marjaletes 🚴
The intervention prioritizes sustainable mobility with the widening of the bike lane, which will connect to the Greenway route. Sidewalks will be renovated to ensure accessible pedestrian transit, eliminating architectural barriers. The new LED lighting will improve energy efficiency and nighttime visibility. Street furniture and green areas will aim to integrate the section into the surroundings, reducing the impact of vehicular traffic.
Vegetation arrives, but residents fear they won't see it grow 🌿
Workers are already on site, and residents watch with a mix of hope and skepticism. After several interruptions, the redevelopment promises brand new sidewalks and lampposts. But some residents joke: with our luck, the new trees will last less than the patience of a driver looking for parking in August. Of course, the bike lane will at least give us an escape route if the works drag on.
