The Pan European Game Information organization has classified an unannounced remastered version of Tales of Eternia, dated April 16. Known as Tales of Destiny II in North America, the original game arrived on PlayStation in 2000 and had a PSP port in 2005. The PEGI 12 rating cites moderate violence and coarse language as reasons.
Possible technical improvements of the remastered version 🎮
Although there is no official confirmation, the technical leap from the original PlayStation to today is remarkable. The title used 2D sprites with pre-rendered backgrounds, a technique of the era that could benefit from higher resolutions and clean textures. There is also speculation about adjustments to the frame rate and compatibility with widescreen displays, details often included in remasters of this kind to adapt to modern hardware.
PEGI reminds us that heroes also swear 😤
The classification for coarse language and moderate violence suggests that the dialogues will maintain their original tone, without censorship. So, if you were expecting a remaster with characters saying gosh and golly, forget it. The heroes of Eternia will keep dropping swear words like there's no tomorrow, and the violence will still be enough to keep the little ones away from the controller.
