The third season of The Night Agent has arrived with an extra load of action, and much of its visual spectacle is thanks to Outpost VFX. The company has detailed its work on two key moments of the series: an aerial sequence with a computer-generated airplane that serves as the axis of chaos, and an underwater fight that required meticulous effects to convey tension and real physical effort.
How to Simulate an Airplane and an Underwater Fight 🎬
For the airplane scene, Outpost VFX built a large-scale digital model that was integrated with real exterior shots and passengers on a set. The challenge was to make the metal reflect ambient light believably and for the aircraft's movements to convey real weight. In the underwater combat, the team faced a different challenge: simulating water drag, bubbles, and soaked clothing. Each punch required a digital touch-up so that the liquid reacted naturally, amplifying the feeling of drowning and vulnerability.
The Virtual Water That Leaves You Breathless (and WiFi-less) 💧
The curious thing is that, while the actors pretended to be on the verge of drowning in a dry tank, the artists at Outpost VFX were sweating in front of screens to add bubbles and turbulence that no one will notice at first glance. It's the kind of invisible work that makes an underwater fight seem real, even though the production crew was using towels and fans between takes. In the end, the credit is twofold: the audience is left with the tension, and the technicians with the satisfaction that no one asks how they did it.
