Image Comics has announced Regicide, a new dark fantasy series written by Patrick Kindlon and illustrated by Ludovic Lalliat. The premise combines elements of Dracula with the rawness of Berserk, following a farm worker in Transylvania sent to assassinate a murderous viceroy. The first issue arrives on August 12.

Kindlon, known for his work on The Last American, builds a narrative that explores feudal oppression and supernatural violence. Lalliat, for his part, uses dense strokes and marked shadows that evoke the style of Kentaro Miura. The color palette leans toward sepia tones and muted reds, reinforcing the Transylvanian setting. The comic will be published in a standard 32-page format.

Because of course, when you're a farm worker in Transylvania, the norm is to be asked to plow fields, not to decapitate viceroys. But the universe has a sense of humor: if you survive, at least you stop paying taxes to the local count. Though, realistically, the Dracula of the moment probably won't accept written resignations.
