The Finnish company Hyperion Robotics is advancing its international expansion. It announced the opening of its first production plant in the United Kingdom, located in Flixborough. The factory, named Forge I, will begin operations before summer 2026. Its goal is to manufacture more than 50 prefabricated foundation units each week, using automated concrete 3D printing systems.🏭
Robotic automation in foundation production🤖
The Forge I plant will be based on integrated robotic manufacturing cells. These automated systems mix, dose, and deposit concrete according to precise digital designs. The process allows for creating complex geometries that optimize material usage and reduce waste. Production will initially focus on foundations for sectors such as renewable energy and infrastructure, with a constant and predictable manufacturing cadence.
Robots that don't complain about the British cold😄
While a human bricklayer might grumble about the constant rain in Flixborough, Hyperion's robotic arms will work non-stop. They don't need tea breaks, nor are they distracted by football. Their biggest complaint would be a coding error, fixable with a reboot instead of a pay raise. It seems productivity in construction has a new standard, immune to small talk and bad weather.
