SUNSOFT has announced Hard Edge: War Zone, a remake of the 1998 action-adventure title Hard Edge (known as T.R.A.G. in North America). This new project transforms the original experience into a real-time tactical card game for four versus four. It will arrive on PC via Steam in 2026 with Spanish language support, and will feature a demo during the Steam Next Fest in June 2026, from the 15th to the 22nd.
Deck building and simultaneous actions on the battlefield 🃏
Set in the same cyberpunk world of 1998, the game combines strategic deck building with team actions that occur simultaneously. In each turn, players draw cards to shoot, throw objects, or defend themselves. To move across the battlefield, they must sacrifice cards from their hand. This system forces quick decisions about which resources to conserve and which to spend to maintain position or flank the enemy.
Suddenly, firing bullets depends on your deck 🔫
We go from a game where you ran and shot to one where your gun only works if you draw the right card at the right moment. Now, instead of reloading, you'll have to draw. And if you want to advance, you'll have to sacrifice your best attack to take a step. All very tactical, except when your teammate runs out of defense cards just when they need them most. Deck strategy was never so frustrating for the one who doesn't draw well.
