The Gandialab Team, an extracurricular robotics academy from Gandia made up of eight children aged 10 to 16, has qualified for the World Robotics Open. After standing out in the FIRST LEGO League, the team has secured a spot for the international competition to be held in Sydney from July 9 to 12. There, they will represent Spain against 60 teams from around the world.
Programming and mechanical design to compete against 60 teams 🤖
The young participants have worked on programming autonomous robots with LEGO sensors and motors, combining mechanical design and navigation algorithms. They have optimized their prototypes to solve missions on a thematic board, applying engineering principles and code debugging. The team has dedicated hours to precision testing and hardware adjustments, demonstrating a practical approach to solving technical problems.
From Gandia to Sydney: no time for the beach 🌊
While other children their age plan their summer vacations at the beach, these eight young people will spend July in Sydney with a robot under their arm. Of course, if they manage to win, they might take a day off to see the city's famous bridge. Although, given their level of concentration, they will most likely end up programming an algorithm to calculate the best wave for surfing.
