Canva has updated Affinity to version 3.2, unifying Photo, Designer, and Publisher into a single free application. The update introduces a Texture Filter to enhance midtones, new vector brushes, and improvements in RAW processing. It highlights integration with DaVinci Resolve to import files as titles or overlays with real-time changes, and export from Capture One preserving masks and metadata.
Texture filter and fine focus for RAW and astrophotography 🎨
The new Texture Filter allows adjusting details in midtones without affecting edges, while the Multi Band Sharpen filter adds a fine detail focus option. In astrophotography and RAW processing, new mask types are incorporated for greater control. For vector design, the Vector Blob and Vector Erase brushes create filled shapes directly, facilitating tracing. Layout tools now support custom images as bullets and improve OpenType support.
Now your DaVinci title can be a .af file that updates itself 🔄
The big news is that you can import Affinity files into DaVinci Resolve and use them as titles or overlays that update in real time. Meaning, if you change the text in Affinity, the video project finds out before you do. Capture One also jumps on the bandwagon by exporting .af with masks and metadata, because, hey, while we're at it, we might as well share the cards. All very nice, until your video editor asks why the title is still in Comic Sans.
