The outage directly impacted professional clients integrating the Sonnet 4.6 and Opus 4.7 models through the API, generating high error rates and partially inaccessible services. Claude Code, the agentic tool for developer workflows, also experienced issues, leaving programmers without their assistant for coding and debugging tasks. The dependence on these tools was exposed.

It seems Claude decided to take a day off without notice, leaving thousands staring at a blank screen. Developers, who already blindly trusted Claude Code to avoid thinking, had to remember how to write code without help. Meanwhile, macOS users saw the error message and thought: finally something that works, not connecting.
