The animated short film Axolodyssey follows the quest of Jojo, an axolotl, in a world inspired by Mexican lakes. Directed by Jon Densk and created by Studio Fresco Animation, the project began as a personal experiment and grew through international collaboration and collective funding. With a duration of 12 minutes, it serves as a pilot for potential future expansions.
Distributed Production and Volunteer Pipeline 🎨
The technical development was based on a remote and volunteer pipeline. Artists from various studios contributed with modeling, texturing, and animation in their free time, coordinating digitally. This method, born during the pandemic, demonstrated the viability of a collaborative production without a central physical studio, relying on motivation and online management to integrate the different visual styles.
When Your Render Farm is Global Goodwill 💻
It's any producer's dream: a team working out of pure passion, where crisis meetings are solved with memes and the render farm is the collection of the artists' PCs in their homes. The budget was invested in virtual coffee and the dream of seeing an animated axolotl. A business model where the currency is enthusiasm and the end credits are miles long.
