The Annecy 2026 Festival has announced the creation of AI4Animation, a think tank that will take place during MIFA. Unlike other events on artificial intelligence, this working group will bring together industry professionals in private meetings, without media presence. The goal is to allow open and honest discussions about the impact of AI on animation, away from media noise and public statements.
Closed-door meetings to discuss the technical future 🎬
AI4Animation will function as a confidential workspace where studios, developers, and artists will analyze AI tools applied to production. Topics will include the automation of repetitive tasks, the generation of procedural assets, and the integration of language models into animation pipelines. The absence of the press aims to avoid leaks and allow participants to share failures, doubts, and technical solutions without fear of sensationalist headlines.
No press, but with coffee and studio secrets ☕
The think tank promises to be the ideal place for major studios to confess their digital sins. Now they can say things like: our latest AI-generated background looks like a Dalà dream with a hangover without anyone tweeting it. Of course, if someone asks about the coffee, they will respond with a we cannot comment on that liquid at this time. Transparency has its limits, especially if the catering is bad.
